Sintra portugal

Village of Sintra

Sintra is arguably one of the most beautiful areas of Portugal.  In fact, the Portuguese monarchy used to vacation in the hilly village with views to the sea.  Today, the quaint town is home to historical palaces and castles, alongside beautiful estates.  Sintra is also home to a lovely new restaurant, with a curious name, G-Spot Gastronomia

G-Spot is a venture between National Award-Winning Sommelier Manuel Moreira and the culinary team of João Sá and André Simões.  Having already been successful with the 100 Ways in Cascais, the partners developed this project to be low cost, small scale, generous creativity and high quality.  With that, G-Spot is a simple 20-seat space, with brick walls and tones of browns and tans.

Although there are a few consistent items one can order a la carte, the menu changes weekly, offering the finest of seasonal local produce and meats.  A sampling of the tasting menu from a recent week includes:

  • Amuse bouche
  • Shellfish soup with lemon purée and white asparagus
  • Shark with Alentejo bread and spinach
  • Lamb ribs with wild mushroom and smoked potato
  • Rhubarb pie with milk caramel and basil

Don’t forget to allow sommelier-extraordinaire Manuel to suggest a very good, but reasonably priced wine(s) to compliment your meal.
