Restaurant Buhle – Dining Elegance with Sea Views in Porto
In the short time since it’s opening in 2009, Buhle has made quite a name for itself on the Porto restaurant scene. With a location on the far west side of Porto, you can’t ask for a better view of the Atlantic Ocean. This makes for a dramatic venue to enjoy late afternoon tea with sea views, a specialty cocktail at sunset, or a moonlight dinner with friends.

The view is only one element of this special place, however. The contemporary space was designed with elegance and sophistication by architect Miguel Ribeiro de Sousa and interior designer Paulo Lobo. Sharp angles and clean lines provide a sense of spaciousness, while sheer curtains dividing dining areas and innovative overhead “nest” lighting adds a touch of softness and intimacy. In fact, this unique design earned Buhle recognition as Top 5 Restaurants in Wallpaper Magazine’s Design Awards 2010.
The cuisine is Portuguese Mediterranean Asian fusion. Head Chef Rodrigo Garrett (formerly of the Four Seasons, Miami) delights guests with creative dishes blending European flavors with Asian cooking styles. Garrett’s menu offers non-traditional menu items such as scrambled egg dishes and variety of selections prepared in the wok. Consider some of these highlights from the current menu:
Smoked Salmon Fondant with watercress and corriander
Veal Carpaccio, with parmesan and truffle oil
Saffron risotto, with spinach and tomato
Foie gras, with mashed banana, almonds and balsamic reduction
Scrambled eggs with asparagus and goat cheese
Wok prepared Mongolian beef, shitake mushrooms, purple onions and bok choi
Seared tuna, with cauliflower purée and mushrooms
Seabream with basil risotto and tomato tartare
Crispy duck and rice in the wok, with mango and vegetables
Guinea Fowl with ratatouille pudding and grilled tomato sauce
Buhle has an extensive wine list to complement the meal. But, it is highly recommended to start your experience with a cocktail from the mixology bar.
