Attention fashionistas!  Autumn and Winter 2012 designs are soon to be on display as Lisbon Fashion Week once again swings into action 10-13 of March 2011.  Also known as MODALisboa, this year’s events will be held in two locations:  the Pátio da Gale; and MUDE, the Museum of Design and Fashion. 

2011 marks the twentieth year of this celebration of Portuguese fashion.  MODALisboa was the first “fashion week” created after the formation of the notable events in Paris, New York, Milan and London.  Now, after 36 editions, MODALisboa has become a major showcase for the introduction of innovative Portuguese designers to the international fashion scene. 

The theme of this next event is Love:  a recognition for the growth of the event from its inception; an appreciation for the talent of the designers and the beauty of the product; and the anticipation of the future of the industry in Portugal.

“Moda is now much more than what it was,” says Eduarda Abbondanza, Director of ModaLisboa.  “It relies on its own history to chart a future that is under construction daily, and seeks creative solutions for perseverance, rather than focusing on difficulties, to cross boundaries and promote Portuguese fashion everywhere.”
