Everything Cool in Portugal
The excitement of Lisbon Fashion Week continued on Friday with the runway shows of Luis Buchino, Katty Xiomara and Ana Salazar.
Many folds and wide weaving of materials provides a reinterpretation of naval uniforms and fisherman’s clothing in this Autumn/Winter collection. The silhouette is long and straight with hems being midi and maxi length. Fabrics of wool flannel, wool crepe, leather, fur and knits are twisted to suggest a feel of nautical ropes and braids. Colors are white, black, gold, navy blue and Bordeaux.

Katty Xiomara’s collection is a mix of classic sexuality in high-waist shorts with lace reminiscent of 1930’s pin-up posters, mixed with Playboy-esque fur capes featuring a front color resembling bunny ears. The entire collection has ´30-40’s feel of working woman by day, with vixen at night. Colors are black, mauve, midnight blue, ash white and powder pink.
The dense vibrant colors of the forest blending together to create a camouflage effect is the inspiration for much of Ana Salazar’s collection for Winter. Metallics and sequined materials provide an element of sheen to the prints. Additional pieces in the collection in blood red and black in leather, wool and sable to provide protection during the Winter season.
