For Spring/Summer 2012, Dawid Tomaszewski draws inspiration from 17th century painting. He is confronted with mortality, loneliness, deception, anonymity and death, but maintains a sense of joy for life. No wonder there is heavenly, ethereal quality in his show, with the light, billowing pieces floating across the runway.

This collection is a mixture of fluid chiffon dresses and classic men’s suits. Intricate crystal and embroidery work decorate many of the pieces, adding panache in a very sophisticated manner. Textures range from ruffles, to feathers, to transparent fabrics. Muted tones are featured, only broken up occasionally by an explosion of fuchsia.
