Everything Cool in Portugal
For Winter 2013, Dino Alves plays with shadows in a collection he calls “Sombra Brilhante.” In western societies, Alves believes shadows evoke mystery. Yet in eastern cultures, shadows are a source of creativity, insight and deep emotion. With this, Alves presents a collection with silhouettes and colors representing standards for what we are and what we are not… the duality of our personalities.

Colors are gray, black, white, gradients, prints, multicolored printed, gold, red, aubergine, yellow, blue gray, green, in materials of wool, viscose, silk, corduroy, cotton twill, poplin and fake fur. His prints project light and shade, creating unbalanced proportions through effects of presence and absence. To further emphasize the duality of reality and shadows, silhouettes in the collection are both long line and lean, as well as oversized.
