MoteLX Horror Film Festival 2012 – 12-16 September in Lisbon

Spooky Autumn nights are near. For one September week in Lisbon, beware of human centipedes, zombies, inbred villagers, vampires, and even, alien bikinis! MoteLX Horror Film Festival returns with a whole new slate of films and activities celebrating that glorious genre of blood and guts, slash and burn, fright and scream movies. MoteLX takes place 12-16 September at the Cinema São Jorge in Lisbon.

This 6th edition of MoteLX promises more thrills and chills then ever. A full slate of international features will be screened, and 10 Portuguese-produced short films will compete. Special homages horror legends Dario Argento and Nobuo Nakagawa. Also scheduled are masterclasses with directors, games nights and “odd school” lounge for raising awareness about digital entertainment.

The competition element of the festival is reserved for Portuguese-produced shorts. 10 films will compete for “The Best Short Horror Portuguesa 2012.” On the jury deciding the winner are musician and filmmaker Filipe Melo and Paulo Furtado, along with Norwegian director and screenwriter Pal Sletaune. Italian master horror director Dario Argento is honored with a retrospective. Films screening include: The Three Mothers Trilogy – SUSPIRIA, INFERNO and MOTHER of TEARS.

Also receiving the retrospective treatment is the father of Japanese horror, Nobuo Nakagawa (1905-1984). Films screening include: classic GHOST STORY OF YOTSUYA; BLACK CAT MANSION; and THE LIVING KOHEIJI.
