Everything Cool in Portugal
Summer 2013 has officially begun on the Island of Madeira. The Atlantic Festival is Madeira’s month-long celebration of arts, music and culture. Lots of fun scheduled throughout June, but certainly the highlights occur on Saturday nights with a major fireworks and music. The Atlantic Festival being 7 June and runs through the 30th.

The first week of the festival is devoted to music. Classical concerts are planned for each day from 7 to 14 June.
Region Arts Week takes place the 17th to 23rd. Activities include a Garden Party, encounters with different art forms, sculptural art and ESCOLartes (Arts School) exhibition. Works can be found throughout Funchal in down Avenida Arriaga and at Baltazar Dias Municipal Theatre, Municipal Gardens Auditorium and Madeira Tecnopólo, Sala Ursa Maior
Also this week is the 24rd Regional Bread Fair taking place at Largo da Restauração (Restoration Square).
However, it is the internationally famous fireworks pyromusical that is what entertains, inspires and awes visitors of the festival. The 20-minute show takes place every Saturday night in the Funchal harbor. The fireworks show is preceded and followed by a musical extravaganza.
