With a quick glance at this exhibition, art aficionados and Francophiles will immediately appreciate Maimon’s passion for the Paris school. It was while studying at the Avni Institute of Fine Art in Tel Aviv that Maimon cultivated an interest in the artistic styles of such famed French painters as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Henri Matisse. Influences of expressionism and cubism are apparent; yet Maimon infuses his own creative savoir-faire into the works.
Street scenes and café culture are favorite themes of Maimon. This could again be attributed to his affinity for his French mentors, or it could be his experience as a restaurateur and his observation of the café’s patrons. Either way, Maimon manages to depict a multitude of thoughts and feelings from his character’s expressions and postures.
After viewing this exhibition, guests are invited to stroll through the hotel and view works from the Conrad Algarve Collection. Paintings and sculptures can be found throughout the lobby, down guest room hallways and in the events space of the resort.
