Following a successful run at the Serralves in Porto, works of Joan Miró, that are owned by the Portuguese State, are now on display at the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda in Lisbon. This exhibition, called Joan Miró: Materiality and Metamorphosis, is curated by Robert Lubar Messeri, a leading world expert in the work of Miró. This unique show has been extended through 13 February 2018.

The exhibition covers a period of six decades of Miró´s career, from 1924 to 1981. There are about 80 works (of the 85 in the Portuguese collection). Some are very rare and have not been seen in public in many years, including six works on Masonite from 1936, and six weavings from 1973.
