Evil grandparents, sinister teenage girls, a vengeful cop, a Yakuza vampire and rabid zombies are joining together for your horrifying pleasure. MOTELx, the terror film festival, returns to Lisbon for a 9th edition of nail-biting theatrical films, scary shorts, outrageous workshops and other audacious activities. MOTELx takes place 8-13 September at Cinema São João in Lisbon.

The opening night film is The Visit, the most recent project by M. Night Shyamalan. In the film, two siblings visit their grandparents for the first time and discover a shocking secret causing them to fear for their lives.

The closing night film is Knock Knock, from director Eli Roth and starring Keanu Reeves as an unsuspecting husband terrorized by unscrupulous teenage girls.

Also at the festival, visitors are invited to: attend a book launch; participate in a make-up workshop with Dave Bonneywell (make up artist in Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, Troy, Seed of Chucky and Clash of the Titans), learn how cinema started in the optical toys workshop with Bruno Caetano, who will also curate the exhibit “Classical Monsters of Terror”; and stroll through the Adamastor Studios gallery exhibit of “House of Psychotic Women”.
