Portuguese and French Alexander first developed his love for photography while travelling around São Paulo. He honed his craft capturing images of urban life. But before long, his fascination for nature emerged, and he soon became devoted to landscape portraits.
“My landscape portraits are above all, a love of nature. I am passionate about landscapes and particularly the Algarve coastal region where I record its natural wonders in constant motion,” said Alexandre.
To achieve the ethereal tone of the images, Alexandre uses a long exposure with high key technique, combined with an expert study of atmospheric conditions.
“I try to create a continuous scene that is untouched by time and only framed by traces of human contact in structures, rocks and maritime locations, “ reveals Alexandre.
The mesmerizing photos in the “Arise” exhibition explore the natural tension between absence and presence…between man and his place in nature…and between the evolution of the landscape and permanence in our lives.
