Culinary Classes at Santiago Hotel Cooking & Nature in Alentejo

From its inception, the mission of the Santiago Hotel Cooking & Nature has been to be a unique destination dedicated to culinary and gastronomic experiences. The location, on the edge of the quaint village of Santiago do Cacém in the western Alentejo, and only 17 kilometers to the coast, adds to the desirability factor. It’s a great spot to get-away, enjoy the cuisine of the region…and for foodies, to hone their kitchen skills.

Santiago Hotel offers immersive experiences into the culinary world. Book to stay for a week of workshops, or treat yourself to an afternoon devoted to soul-enriching cooking.

Every month a new schedule of classes is announced, ranging from the Santiago Cooking Academy-themed weekends to individual afternoon lessons. Some classes are free to hotel guests. Others require an additional cost. Outside foodies are invited to join as well (call reception for cost and reservations).

Imagine learning the secrets behind baking Alentejo-style bread, blending the perfect smoothie, making authentic pizza dough and tomato sauce, or preparing traditional desserts.

Grilling can be fun and inspired. Santiago Hotel has an Ofyr grill to work with. The unique O-shape of the grill’s cooking surface provides a new way to consider fire grilling various foods.
