There is no lack of bars, pubs and restaurants serving adult beverages in the popular Vilamoura Marina. Yet, for those seeking a more genteel and sophisticated spot, the Argo Cocktail Bar is an oasis for cocktail enthusiasts and the central Algarve social set. The Argo is (literally) above the crowded waterfront entertainment complex on the first floor of the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura Hotel.
Inside, the ambiance is cosmopolitan with wave-inspired designs, rich hues, and a seamless blend of satin and textured finishes. However, step outside onto the large, elevated terrace for overstuffed seating, an open sky and dazzling views of the yachts in the marina.
As you’ve probably guessed, the theme of the bar and drinks menu is inspired by the legendary adventures of the Argonauts. Nelson de Matos, is your captain for these voyages. Having begun his career at the prestigious Savory Hotel in London, he returned to his home in the Algarve to helm the Argo, winning Best Bartender at the 2024 Lisbon Bar Show Awards in the process. His innovative approach is evident in every sip.
A few highlights from the creative cocktail menu include: Heracles – vodka with hazelnut infusion, coffee liqueur, caramel syrup and coffee; Athena – premium gin, premium vermouth, vanilla syrup with black pepper; Poseidon made from VS cognac, rum, Madeira medium sweet, honey, pistachio, burrata and lemon; and Atalanta – gin, honey liqueur, coconut water, vegetables, lime. For something quite special, try the Argo cocktail. This true taste of the Algarve coast is made with premium gin, phytoplankton, inula, sea fennel, dill and lemon. (€25)
