Christmas lights in Lisbon are all aglow, making for an enchanted, mesmerizing holiday ambiance to share with friends and family. With dozens of locations around the city lighting up the night, surely the main attraction is the 30-meter tall Christmas Tree in Terreiro do Paço. Lisbon lights go on 23 November and will illuminate the city through the holidays until 6 January.
A Christmas lighting ceremony is set for 18:30 on Thursday, 23 November at Terreiro do Paço. A light and sound show will emphasize the celebration. This will be followed by a live concert by Português pop artist Áurea, singing songs from Christmas films. concert of holiday music will be performed by Áurea, along with fireworks.
Across the city, 1,000 light structures will be installed, consisting of approximately 5,700 decorative pieces. This equates to 1,987,125 LED low-consumption bulbs. (The LEDs provide 80% energy savings compared with standard incandescent lamps.)
Lights are on daily:
Sunday to Thursday – 17:30 to 24:00
Friday and Saturday – 17:30 to 01:00
Christmas and New Years Eve – 17:30 to 02:00
