What’s better in Spring than a burst of colour? In The Pink gallery in Loulé has just the thing. Opening April 10, “Colourama” is a dreamy, thought-provoking exhibition that brings together the work of photographers Johnny Mae Hauser and Teresa Freitas—two artists who approach the emotional landscape of colour in radically different yet beautifully complementary ways.

On the ground floor, you’ll find the unmistakable style of Teresa Freitas, whose pastel-hued photography has charmed audiences worldwide. Known for blending the nostalgic with the surreal, Freitas’s “Cinematica” series captures quiet moments and everyday scenes through a hyper-coloured lens. Her signature cotton-candy pink is here, but this time, it’s joined by bold greens and a more vivid palette that hints at new directions. Her work feels like a daydream filtered through a modern eye—equal parts poetic and playful.
Upstairs, the tone shifts with Johnny Mae Hauser’s deeply introspective “Bildnis” series. In her first-ever exhibition in Portugal, the Dutch-German artist presents a softer, cooler world where blurred still lifes and abstract self-portraits invite quiet reflection. Created during a time of personal change, Hauser’s work is raw, vulnerable, and full of texture—especially as she prints without frames or glass, letting each image breathe freely on the wall.
Together, Freitas and Hauser create a space where photography becomes more than image—it becomes feeling. “Colourama” is a sensory experience that asks us to slow down, to notice, and to feel our way through the hues that shape how we see the world.
The show runs from April 10 at In The Pink in Loulé—don’t miss it.
