If your idea of the perfect meal includes swinging in a hammock, toes in the sand with the stunning waters of the Atlantic just meters away, then Comporta Café is the place for you. The relaxed, chill vibe is reflected in the restaurant’s tasteful, yet unpretentious décor. However, it is the stark white Adirondack chairs, cozy hammocks and comfy sofas on the sand that have diners arriving early.
First in first served… Surrounded by the ocean and rice paddies, it is easy to know what to order from the menu, “carefully-cooked Portuguese food” with a focus on fish and seafood. A specialty is their black-ink cuttlefish rice, but grilled prawns and sautéed clams are equally inviting.
During the summer season–June through September–this beachside café has a welcome addition: invited DJ’s as the sun sets. The ideal place to meet up with friends to soak in the last rays of the day, indulge in the ocean breeze and dance while the sun sets on Comporta Beach. PS: shoes optional.
