Visit the official residence of the Portuguese Prime Minister and see unique examples of national design, heritage and culture. Design in São Bento – Traces of Portuguese Culture is an “exhibition” presented by MUDE (Museum of Design and Fashion) offering a rare invitation inside the residence to examine works by noted Portuguese artists. Guided tours are scheduled for the first Sunday of each month only, on first-come-first-served basis.
Visitors will walk through the main rooms of the residence where decorative arts and popular crafts from the 12th to 21st centuries are on display. Pieces such as furniture, lamps, textiles and décor objects have been sourced from MUDE, municipalities, museums, companies, designers and private collections.
The MUDE – Design and Fashion Museum and the gracious collaboration of municipalities, museums, companies, designers and private collections made this initiative possible.
Three 30-minute guided tours are available to the public on the first Sunday of each month at 10:30, 11:15 and 12:00. Tours will run through 6 January 2024.
