Dolphin Watching in the Sado Estuary, Comporta

dolphin watching comporta sado estuary alentejo

During your stay in Comporta, spend half a day visiting the local pod of dolphins actively living within the freshwater of the Sado Estuary. The community of Sado Bottlenose Dolphins were first identified in 1981 and are carefully monitored and tracked.

Enjoy a three-hour guided trip aboard Vertigem Azul’s catamaran, visiting the estuary and the Arrábida coast. In the height of our Portugal summer you may enjoy lounging on the nets being cooled by the ocean spray. For sun-phobes, there are plenty of seated shady areas too.

Vertigem Azul are known to have a 95% successful sighting rate, but do remember they cannot be held responsible if the dolphins prefer not to be observed on your scheduled trip. Check out their website for other nature activities including birdwatching or wine sunset cruises. The catamaran is also available for private events.
