Once again, Lisbon Design Week is set to transform the city into a buzzing hub of creativity and innovation from 28 May to 1 June. In this third edition, venues across the city from galleries and art spaces, to hotels, restaurants and even whole neighborhoods, will showcase innovative designers, artists and craftspeople, from Portugal and abroad.

What is Lisbon Design Week?
Lisbon Design Week is a cultural event in the Portuguese capital, held annually, focussing on contemporary design and craftsmanship. Organizers curate an eclectic program that includes special events, exclusive presentations, new collections, lectures, masterclasses, open studios, guided tours and immersive exhibitions. It’s a delightful merging of design, arts and crafts.


Who curates?
Lisbon Design Week is led by Michèle Fajtmann, Owner and Founder of From My City, a London based agency, specializing in the revitalization of urban locations and public spaces through artistic and cultural e-experiences. She presides over a council of esteemed creatives, whom each bring a unique perspective to the project:
- Luís de Oliveira – Co-Founder & General Director, De La Espada
- Sam Baron – World-renowned designer and owner of Sam Baron & Co
- Toni Grilo – Designer and Art Director of several design brands as well as directing his own studio specializing in product, furniture and scenery design
- Marco Sousa Santos – Founder and Director of Proto Design and Experimental Design
- Joana Astolfi – Noted Portuguese designer who is visually inspired by an elongated universe of found objects and artifacts, with particular impact on history and narrative
- Mircea Anghel – Internationally-acclaimed artist and designer, established in Portugal
- Manuel Aires Mateus – Renowned Portuguese architect who develops his activity from his studio in Lisbon
- Ana Lia Santos – Designer, Professor and Researcher at FBAUL/CIEBA
- Armando Ribeiro – Founder & Creative Director of O Apartmento Communications and Creative Agency, Lisbon

Sobre Mesa Exhibition
Arquivo Aires Mateus
The flagship exhibition of this year’s Lisbon Design Week is curated by Spain’s MUT Design studio and Portuguese designer João Xará. It delves into the Iberian tradition of lingering at the table long after a meal, featuring works by around 20 established and emerging designers from Portugal and Spain.
Young Design Generation Open Call Exhibition
MUDE – Museum of Design and Fashion
A record-breaking 157 young creatives submitted work for this open call, with 20 pieces selected to be displayed alongside MUDE’s permanent exhibition “What Are Things For?”—fostering a rich dialogue between new voices and design heritage.
LDW TALKS
May 30 at MUDE Auditorium
Open conversations invite the wider community to explore design as a tool for understanding and shaping the world. Morning talks focus on “The Human, the Non-Human, and the Others.” In the afternoon, the focus shifts to heritage and empowering local creators. The day ends with a book signing by French designer Emmanuel Babled for his new release The Hand of Others.
Locke Rising Exhibition & “Portugal Manual” Podcast
Locke Hotel, Santa Joana
Set in a beautifully restored 17th-century convent, this new hotel hosts Locke Rising, spotlighting emerging Lisbon creatives like AB+AC Architects and Mariana Ralo. There’s also a live podcast station by “Portugal Manual” for up to 30 attendees.
The Chairman: 15 Years of Chairs by Marco Sousa Santos
Branca Lisboa Showroom
This retrospective honors designer Marco Sousa Santos with a showcase of his evolution through one of design’s most iconic objects—the chair.
Perspective & Matter Exhibition by Luso Collective
Marvila
For the second year, Lisbon-based young designers unite to present new pieces. Known for standout scenography, this year’s exhibition explores the dynamic relationship between perception and material in contemporary creation.
