MAD Marvila gallery in Lisbon presents Loving Letters: Exploring the Historical Relevance of Love Letters in Contemporary Art, a new exhibition featuring works by Ricardo Tadeu Barros. Ideal for the lovers´ month of February, the show focusses on the significance of love letters as a means of communication and emotional expression. In acrylics, Tadeu Barros creates colorful and striking images of a heart filled with symbols and artistic patterns. Loving Letters runs through 2 March.
In a world dominated by digital and instant communication, handwritten letters and their unique ability to develop genuine emotional connections are often overlooked. Using a style reminiscent of “pop-art,” Tadeu Barros paints vibrant images with bold colors, reminiscent of advertising and popular culture of the 1960s and 70s. This aesthetic, creates a captivating and dynamic piece capable of attracting attention and prompting reflections on contemporary society.
Originally from Mozambique, Ricardo Tadeu de Mesquita Barros is a Portuguese artist and designer. He obtained a degree in Communication Design from IADE Creative University in Lisbon in 1992. Since that time Barros has been exhibiting both individually and collectively, showcasing his work regularly from Porto to Faro.
