Conceived by Ana Alves and Pedro Augusto Silva, Luz Charming Houses grew from a deeply personal vision. Ana, an architect specializing in restoration, reinterpreted the region’s ancestral stone houses with a refined, contemporary sensibility, while Pedro left a career in human resources to devote himself fully to managing and nurturing the project. The result is a hotel that feels intimate, authentic, and profoundly human.
Arranged like a small rural village, the property unfolds around the Mother House—the social heart of the hotel—where reception, breakfast, an honesty bar, and a cozy fireplace lounge encourage guests to relax and linger.
The accommodations—just 15 rooms and suites—range from cozy Classic Rooms to expansive Master Suites ideal for families or extended stays. Soft whites, pale pastels, wood, and concrete create an atmosphere of effortless comfort. Fireplaces, porches, soaking tubs, and kitchenettes in select rooms add a residential touch, reinforcing the feeling of being welcomed into a private retreat rather than a conventional hotel.
Yet it is outdoors where Luz Charming Houses truly reveals its soul. Winding paths lead through gardens planted as nature intended—olive trees, oaks, fruit trees, and wild flora—toward spaces designed for contemplation. There is a striking stone pool inspired by old water tanks, a barn-like haystack lounge open to summer breezes, and even a sheep shelter where animals quietly roam.
A hidden natural cave on the far end of the grounds serves as a candlelit wellness sanctuary for massages, yoga, Pilates and aromatherapy rooted in local herbal traditions.
Everywhere, small details reward attention: messages on walls, an antique bicycle resting casually in the garden, and a sculptural tree in the lobby where guests hang heart-shaped notes reflecting on their stay. These gestures feel less decorative than emotional, making the stay that much more personal.
