Merrell’s mantra for performance and style is “better, faster and more comfortable.” The American brand of outdoor clothing and footwear has become synonymous with functional and fashionable active wear. For outdoor adventurers in Portugal, there is a new Merrell mecca. The Merrell Portugal Flagship store is open on Rua do Ouro in the Baixa of Lisbon.
The store is at once Portuguese and totally Merrell. The shop inhabits a traditional building in the Baixa. The ceiling is vaulted with brick archways. Yet, stone and rough wood embellishments reflect modern eco-conscious sustainable design, while creating the ambiance of the great outdoors. Natural plants grow in a vertical garden on the wall is a centerpiece of the shop.
As a flagship store, the shop carries a large inventory of clothing, outerwear, shoes and accessories for men, women and children. Products are great for enthusiasts of hiking, biking, running, kayaking, camping and adventure seeking. Merrell hopes to inspire its clientele to go outside and play!
A second cool venue is also on this site. Upstairs is the Grémio do Carmo Café. It’s a great space to have a coffee or fresh juice. Light meals are available throughout the day such as courgette (zucchini) soup, broccoli and Roquefort cheese quiche, tuna salad and vegetables with basil mayonnaise, and beet and carob muffins. Take the elevator from Merrell, or enter from the Rua do Carmo side of the building.
