Michelin Stars in Portugal for 2026 are announced.The biggest news of the night was the awarding of ten new one-star restaurants, alongside the promotion of Fifty Seconds in Lisbon to the prestigious two-star category. There are now 44 one star and nine two-star restaurants from north to south and across to Madeira.
Portugal still does not yet have a three-star restaurant, but the growing number of Michelin-recognized kitchens highlights the country’s rapidly evolving gastronomy scene..
New Stars
The Michelin Guide awarded ten new restaurants their first star. Starting in the north, Schisto chefs Vítor Matos and Vítor Gomes earned a star in Peso da Régua, Largo do Paço by Francisco Quintas in Amarante regains its star after a closing for renovations, and DOP by Chefs Rui Paula and Sandro Teixeira, Éon from Tiago Bonito, Gastro by Elemento from Ricardo Dias Ferreira and In Diferente, Chef Angélica Salvador all received a stars in Porto. Kappo by Tiago Penão in Cascias was recognized. In Alentejo, A Cozinha do Paço with Afonso Dantas in Evora is honored as was neighbor Mapa by David Jesus in Montemor-o-Novo. And down south in the Algarve, Rui Sequeira at Alameda brings a star to Faro.

Green Stars
One Green Star was added to this growing list restaurants honored for being at the forefront of sustainable practices. The newest awardee is A Cozinha do Paço in Évora. Others already on the list are Herdade do Esporão and Malhadinha Nova also in Alentejo, Encanto in Lisbon, Mesa do Lemos in Sigueiros , O Balcão in Santarém and two Michelin star Il Gallo d’Oro in Funchal.
Bib Gourmet
New Bib Gourmet designations, given to restaurants of quality with reasonable pricing, went to: Mesa 15 in Leiria and Taberna Sakra in Alverca do Ribatejo.
