José Avillez has a knack for creating dining experiences, and Mini Bar is no exception. Although a small intimate space, Mini Bar has a big-city sophisticated appeal. The fine menu items, may seem miniature in appearance, but are packed with creativity and flavor. True to what we have come to expect from Avillez, this restaurant is full of fun and surprises for all of your senses.
Mini Bar resides within Bairro do Avillez (Avillez’s neighborhood). This is the large, multi-venue space housing many different Avillez restaurants, each with their own theme. The cosmopolitan ambiance of Mini Bar, inside a former cabaret, celebrates the glitz and glamour of an earlier era.
Avillez’s menu at Mini Bar is as much a visual performance as it is a taste sensation. Most dishes are “mini”! Consider them, petiscos or tapas; either way, they are individual dishes packed with flavor and excitement. Most are meant to eat with your hands.
Some highlights of the menu include: Diamonds in elderflower and Margaritas – not for drinking, but for eating, foie gras with cotton candy and lyo raspberry, Algarve prawns in ceviche served on a lime slice with a beetroot sphere and fried corn topping. More temptations are: a roasted chicken on a small crispy base with smoked cottage cheese paste; avocado tempura with dehydrated kimchi, coriander sprouts, lime and lemon; and the JAburger, a delicious hamburger served on an ultra-light brioche bun that melts in your mouth.
Besides a restaurant, Mini Bar is also a great spot for cocktails, entertainment and more surprises. The green apple and spearmint margarita is actually chewable! Music will also have a special role. DJs play tracks on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 22:00.
