Some say O Paparico is the best restaurant in Porto. Others consider it the best in Portugal. These are some serious accolades. In are opinion, they’re both right!
Entering O Paparico is like walking into an old friend’s home. The rustic centuries-old rock walls are an ideal backdrop to the fine elegance of starched white table linens and crystal stemware atop traditional wooden tables. A conscious effort to limit seating provides a spatial room where each table, although open, seems to be intimate and private. One-by-one, the convivial staff approach the table, introduce themselves and explain their specific expertise, from guest services to sommelier, and waiter to chef.
The only decision you’ll need to make this evening is deciding on your food program. The Sharing Menu includes two starters, two main courses and two desserts. Or select individual dishes a la carte. Dishes are inspired by various regions of Portugal from north-to-south. This menu changes month-by-month in order to honor the freshest seasonal produce. (You can keep up with the most current menu by visiting the O Paparico Expressions page.)
Chef Rui Martins and his team are responsible for the gastronomic creations. Each dish presented to the table is a feast for the senses; and is almost too pretty and too clever to eat. But, we recommend you pick up the fork and give it a try.
And, no doubt, the final “performance” of this show is the coffee and tea course. It is accompanied by a miniature jewelry box, each drawer filled with a unique and delightful petit four.
Porto-based entrepreneur and hospitality superstar Sergio Cambas is the owner and visionary behind O Paparico. His background working at the Ritz Carlton in Barcelona, and his passion for providing utmost service results in a complete evening of creativity, gastronomy, wine and enjoyment.
With that, it is easy to say, O Paparico is one of the best restaurants and dining experiences in Portugal.
