Your summer in the Algarve just got a little bit spicier! A little bit of India has landed in the central Algarve with the opening of Rohini by Little Miss India at Pine Cliffs Resort. It’s a tribute to authentic India flavors and hospitality, with an open and colorful ambiance, perfect for a breezy summer evening.
Rohini is located in the center of the cliff top resort. There is a large outside terrace for dining under the summer stars. As well, they offer seating inside with low-slung, big puffy furniture, colorful drapes and large format map murals for that exotic explorer vibe.
The menu is chock full of favorite India dishes, alongside many surprise ones. (For those with a sensitivity to spice, please find comfort in knowing that there are many neutral choices to enjoy. But it you’re a spice aficionado, you can discuss your spice preference level with the server.)
To start, the menu includes crowd-pleasers like papadum served with mango chutney, onion chutney and mint sauce, samosas stuffed with coriander and spices, and battered ad fried spinach with sweet yogurt. Yet, there are other interesting standouts such as Malai Ke Pool – broccoli cooked in the tandoor served in a cream sauce with cashews, and Ajawani Mahi Tikka – boneless fish marinated in yogurt, carom seed and spices.
Whether you’re a vegetarian, meat eater or prefer fish and shrimp, there’s plenty of choice. Lasoonie Bhuna Saag features fried spinach with pureed garlic, red chili and cumin in a creamy sauce. The Dhaba Murgh is Dhaba-style chicken curry prepared in a thick tomato-onion masala. The Goan Fish Curry is a tasty treat punctuated with coconut milk.
Accompany the dinner with a selection of Biriyani rice dishes (mutton, shrimp, chicken or vegetables), Naan (plain, cheese and chili, Kashmiri, garlic or butter) and Roti (plain, butter and missi), as well as a selection of basmati rices, and kulcha and lachha paratha breads.
