Celebrate the season in true festive style at the Rossio Christmas Market in Praça Dom Pedro IV in the Baixa-Chiado area of Lisbon. Stroll the wooden huts selling artisan gifts and holiday foods. Visit Santa in his Casa do Pai Natal. Ride the Christmas Train around town. And enjoy special live performances and a exhibition at the Dolls Hospital. The Rossio Christmas Market runs daily from 15 November through 22 December.
The atmosphere around the square is filled with magic! Discover 70 charming wooden houses with handicrafts and a wide range of drinks and seasonal delicacies. On the north end of the square, step into the famous Hospital das Bonecas (Doll’s Hospital) for a Christmas showcase of their impressive collection of dolls (some over 190 years old).
If you start getting too tired to walk, hop on the Christmas Train. This free activity is 100% electric and a great source of enjoyment for kids. Catch the train in Rossio Square in front of Café Nicola. The train route includes: Rua do Ouro, Praça do Comércio, Rua da Prata, Praça da Figueira, Rua da Betesga and Praça do Rossio.
And, there’s live performances and children’s theater on the central stage on Fridays and Saturdays from 15:00 to 23:00 and Sundays from 15:00 to 22:00.
