Semea by Euskalduna – Causal Portuguese by Vasco Coelho Santos

Semea by Euskalduna porto, vasco coelho santos,

One of the most talked about chefs of the moment in Portugal is Vasco Coelho Santos. His intimate Euskalduna Studio restaurant in Porto is a sort of fine dining laboratory for those who appreciate creative contemporary cuisine. Coelho Santos’ newest project goes casual, with a cozy, yet modern, establishment for classic Portuguese with his unique touch. Semea by Euskalduna is on Rua das Flores, in the heart of Porto.

Semea” in Basque (where Coelho Santos trained at noted Mugartiz and Arzak restaurants) means “son”. An apt name for the spinoff concept of Euskalduna. “Semea” in Portuguese means whole grain, which gives a clue to the attention to fresh ingredients in the concept for the menu.

Portuguese products and flavors are the focus. Traditional dishes like Bacalhau à Bras (everyone’s favorite codfish dish) and Bochecha de Porco in Tacho (pork cheeks) are enjoyed with artisan craft beers and wines from small local producers. Of course, accompanying the meal at Semea are fresh baked breads.
