SUD Lisboa - Sophisticated Waterfront Dining

SUD Lisboa is an elegant dining and entertainment spot to romance your loved one, impress your clients and meet-up with your friends. It’s two separate areas for two types of experiences: Terraza, a sophisticated restaurant serving modern versions of Italian favorites; and, the Pool Lounge, a rooftop bar/lounge for drinks, snacks…and a dip in the infinity pool. Located on the edge of the Tagus River in Belem, SUD Lisboa is well-worth a short Uber ride from the city center.

An imposing modern building with a grand entrance greets your arrival to Terraza. Through the doors, the striking cosmopolitan décor, by Belgium-based Portuguese designer António Pinto, immediately sets the stage for what will be a delightful experience. The large oval glass feature above the bar radiates various hues, and moods, throughout the evening. Design aside, though, it’s perhaps the floor-to-ceiling windows, providing unobstructed views of the river, that will likely vie for your attention.

After you’ve ordered your aperitif, the server brings a smart tablet menu for you to scroll and swipe through an extensive list of dishes. The cuisine by Executive Chef Patrick Lefeuvre is heavy on Mediterranean flavors, with a strong modern Italian influence. A Pizza with bresaola, Porcini mushrooms, Parmigiano Reggiano, arugula and truffle oil might be a tough choice over a Mushroom and Duck risotto with foie gras, thyme and truffle jus. For those who enjoy fish ad seafood, there are choices such as Sicilian Codfish, Atlantic Blue Lobster and a Broth from the Sea, with sea bass, mussels, octopus, black tiger shrimp and tomato sauce. Carnivores will, no doubt love the Veal Ossobucco, Goat Leg Confit, or might opt for the 900gr Ribeye Steak. Please save room for the desserts, as the Sud Cioccolato, dark chocolate mousse with crunchy praline, raspberry gel, cocoa crumble, sesame tuile and raspberry sorbet, is a work of art.

Live entertainment in the evening adds another layer of refinement to the SUD experience.

After dinner, you may want to climb the dramatic staircase to enjoy an after-dinner drink at the Pool Lounge. Or, you will likely want to come back with friends for an afternoon in the sun, or a sexy champagne toast at sunset.

The Pool Lounge is one of the best rooftop bars in the city. It takes full advantage of its waterfront location with stunning views up the river to the 25 April Bridge and down to the Monument of the Discoveries. The lounge is a cool daytime hangout for trendsters, chilling at the pool sipping signature cocktails. At night, it’s a popular hotspot complete with DJs playing tracks, keeping the energy lively until 2:00 in the morning.
