XXL Quinta do Lago – Classic Fare with a Twist by Olivier

Lisbon dining hotspot XXL by Olivier now has a southern outpost! Celebrated chef and restaurateur Olivier da Costa opens XXL Quinta do Lago at the Wyndham Grand Algarve. The restaurant makes plays for classic restaurant traditions, while injecting the irreverence of Olivier. No doubt, like the chef’s popular Lisbon eateries KOB, SEEN, Praia no Parque and Guilty!, XXL Quinta do Lago will become an instant classic in the central Algarve.

The XXL concept is a bit of Portuguese lore itself. In 1994, Vasco Gallego opened XL across from the Portuguese Parliament building. The location, along with a classic menu of steaks and soufflés, made XL the watering hole for politicians, artists, financiers and Lisbon’s fashionable set. In 2020, Olivier approached Vasco about taking over the restaurant while maintaining the character of the original. Hence, XXL was born, retaining the aire of XL while fusing the new version with the culinary innovation and high-hip factor that Olivier is known for.

On the menu at XXL, Olivier keeps favorite dishes such as Cheese and Spinach Soufflé, Entrecôte Café Paris, Duck Magret with Port wine reduction, while adding dishes like the XXL Sirloin Steak, Monkfish Picanha, Codfish “À Lagareiro” with onions and roasted peppers, and Lobster Steak with drawn butter, French fries and rice. Desserts reflect Olivier’s sweet tooth with Dulce de Leche Soufflé and Kit Kat Mousse.
