PC Guide to Avenida da Liberdade
Every world-class city has one—a shopping area who’s name alone is recognized for haute couture, high-end leather goods, stunning jewelry and fine fragrances. Rodeo Drive. Fifth Avenue. Mayfair. Champs-Elysees. Ginza. Lisbon’s Avenida da Liberdade certainly deserves to join the list.
Constructed in 1879, Avenida da Liberdade is modeled after boulevards in Paris. It is 90 meters wide with ten lanes of traffic, divided by pedestrian walkways decorated with gardens. The boulevard is home to fashionable mansions, hotels, theatres, cafés…and, of course, designer boutiques.
