In summer 2023, Lisbon’s impossibly chic JNcQUOI transported its vibe to a prime waterfront location in Praia do Pego in Comporta. From the outside, the JNcQUOI Beach Club looks like a humble beach shack, but inside, it’s a stylish dining room designed by award-winning Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen (often referenced on the AD 100), with large round overhead lamps and lavishly large windows.
The long menu, which is signed by chef Jerónimo Ferreira, includes cold and hot starters, fresh seafood, various pastas and rice dishes, and a fish market inside the restaurants, where guests can choose among the catches of the day.
While simply grilled fish beside the Atlantic is always a highlight of Portuguese dining, other standout dishes include the king crab cocktail, the codfish carpaccio with capers, and the paella with mushrooms and seasonal truffles. A number of dishes from the original JNcQUOI in Lisbon, such as the tuna steak with morilles à la crème, are also on offer.
After lunch, guests can retire to the sunbeds just down the stairs or book a “cabana” beach bed to enjoy the afternoon, with snappy bar service that’s up to the standards of the restaurant inside.
