May Day Celebration Algarve: Maibaumfest at Vila Vita Biergarten

On May 1st, Vila Vita Biergarten brings the beloved Central European tradition of May Day to the Algarve. Maibaumfest celebrates the arrival of spring in true Bavarian style. Rooted in the centuries-old “Maibaum” (Maypole) ritual — a symbol of renewal and community — the event transforms the Biergarten into a lively village setting.

Guests can expect a joyful, family-friendly atmosphere, complete with a beautifully decorated Maypole, wooden huts, and the opportunity to take part in the tradition by adding ribbons and flowers with personal wishes for the season ahead. Throughout the afternoon, classic Bavarian and Austrian specialties are served alongside artisanal ice cream, while live folk-inspired music from 3:00 pm adds to the authentic ambiance.
