Roofs of Lisbon, by Photographer Joachim Gisewski

Joachim Gisewski is a photographer based in Wroclaw, Poland.  He uses technology to create unique experiences in the photos he takes.  In 2010, Gisewski visited the central coast of Portugal.  His first stop:  Lisbon.  He snapped shots of many of the iconic landmarks around the capitol, as well as typical day-to-day life.  Manipulating the images with High Definition Range, Gisewski created a view of Lisbon that is unique, magical, surreal and beautiful.

The HDR process involves taking numerous pictures of the same subject in different exposures, and then combining them into one image.  In this way, he is able to focus on each element of the composition individually in each shot.  The result is perfect exposure of earth, subject and sky.

Travelling north to Peniche, Gisewski captured shots of the Silver Coast that transform the landscape into magical works of art.
