Sublime Comporta, the hotel that helped put Comporta on the international luxury map, was a bit late to the game in creating a beach restaurant and club. But what it lost in time, it made up for with quality. The Sublime Comporta Beach Club is a see-and-be-seen lunch spot, to be sure, but it’s also one that is quite beautiful and delicious.
The design is beachy and chic, full of neutral tones and organic materials. And because of 2020 regulations, it feels extra spacious and welcoming.
As for the food, it emphasizes Portuguese beach classics: bulhão pato clams (below), steamed shellfish sold by the kilo, seafood rice, and super-fresh, simply grilled fish. There are also several offerings of quality meat for the fish-averse.
Along with the restaurant, there’s a beach bar, and a concession for renting beach loungers and umbrellas on the long, white-sand stretch of Praia do Carvalhal.
