The rooftop bar of the Pollux housewares store used to be one of Lisbon’s best secret hangouts. Not in the tourist guidebooks, and maybe a bit rough around the edges, it was a place to take in the view and feel like you were in the know.
Now, with the opening of Terraço Editorial, it still has that outstanding city view (taking in Convento do Carmo, the Santa Justa lift, and the river) but also stylish interior design, tasty food, and a gastronomic point of view. That point is wines, specifically bottles from small Portuguese producers. With 190 references from boutique wineries, it has Lisbon’s best representation of the creative winemaking that’s going on in Portugal right now.
Honestly, with those views and that wine list, the food could just be an afterthought. But with chef Rui Rebelo (who worked with Ferran Adrià, among other international star chefs) overseeing the kitchen, it’s easy to eat well here.
The menu favors food to be shared, like boards of Portuguese cheeses or sausages, or deeply authentic dishes like inked cuttlefish croquettes and pig neck toast.
But if you just want a simple hamburger, that’s ready for you too.
