Some are more than content to enjoy a sommelier-recommended glass of vino, whilst others may wish to improve their knowledge of local wines. If you fall in the latter category, take a break from the vitamin D sunrays of Comporta and enjoy the adult activity of wine tasting.
Along the Alentejo coast, the vineyard belonging to Herdade da Comporta is surrounded by sand dunes, rice paddies, salt marsh and forests. This gives rise to unique soil which is sandy and slightly salted by the sea. Together with the coastal climate, you can be assured that the wines produced are harmonious, soft and easy to drink. In some way, the wines identify with the relaxed ambience of Comporta.
The cellar (or “adega” in Portuguese) itself is built on the old workshops of the Herdade and dates back to 1930. The vines were planted on 35 hectares in 2001 making 2003 the first year of production. French and American 500 litre barrels will house the best wines for 12 months. Your Comporta Wine Tasting experience is awaiting you.
