Manumaya is an homage to the shop’s owner and her passion for the central American country of Guatamala. Manuela Gouveia (“Manu”) visited the country in 2004 and immediately fell in love with the local Mayan (“maya”) culture. The colorful arts and crafts, all made by hand, were particularly attractive and endearing. Manuela felt compelled to share these products “made with love” in a shop at the heart of the relaxed community of Comporta.
Manumaya shop displays a variety of Guatemalan items, from embroidered dresses and hand-made jewelry, to colorful blankets and art objects for the home.
