Mizuumi Sushi Lounge by WELL at Conrad Algarve

Mizuumi Sushi Lounge by WELL at the Conrad Algarve, marries the sophistication of the luxury resort with the culinary expertise of WELL, a popular sushi spot and pool/beach concession in Vale do Lobo. It’s an ideal spot in the central Algarve for a light meal, business lunch, gathering of friends or romantic dinner.

Mizuumi by WELL is on the Conrad Algarve’s ground floor, adjacent to the popular Lago Lounge. (Interestingly, “lago” which means “lake” in Portuguese, is a tribute to the hotel’s location in the well-heeled Quinta do Lago development. Aptly, Mizuumi translates to “lake” in Japanese!) The ambiance is elegant and contemporary, with low-backed seating, art on the walls and the open sushi preparation counter at the top of the room.

As you might expect at higher-end sushi restaurants, attention to the finest products is foremost. The menu designed by chef Tiago Torres from WELL Vale do Lobo, features a variety of technically-savvy dishes, prepared with fresh, local ingredients.

For starters, there are classics like Ceviche, Salmon Tartare and Tuna Tataki. Additional unique, creative options include Usuzukuri Trufado, salmon slices, seabass and tuna with ponzu, layu, chives, nanbanzuke, ikura and truffle olive oil, or Crispy Black Tiger in which black tigers prawns are covered with almonds and served with a sweet chili sauce.

Moving onto mains, sushi aficionados will appreciate quality fresh fish in the traditional Temaki, Hossomaki, Niguiri and Sashimi. The menu also offers signature Uramak such as Volcano made with spicy Atlantic bonito, Japanese mayonnaise, chives, tobiko and asparagus, and Chimi Chimi, tempura prawn, grilled asparagus tossed with braised tuna and chimichurri sauce.
