The way people choose to live is a kind of art, a pure form of self-expression. With this thought in mind, innovative Portuguese furniture manufacturer Munna Design sets out to develop armchairs, loveseats, ottomans and screens that never lose their ability to amaze and delight.
Having only been in business since 2008, Munna is already well-travelled. This month, the brand makes an appearance at Interiors UAE Exhibition in Abu Dhabi. This follows showcases at Maison et Objet, Paris, Architectural Digest Home Design Show, New York, and Tortona Design Week, Milan.
The Munna design process begins with a collection of emotions and ideas. Discussions ensue about basic elements such as colors, fabrics, finishes. Trends are examined, not only in design, but also in architecture, fashion music and art. Functionality and ergonomics have to be considered as well. The end result is designs which prove to be practical in the home, but more importantly, make a statement of integrity, emotion, passion and surprise.
Although contemporary in concept, Munna furniture is manufactured in the Portuguese tradition, using quality materials and expert craftsmanship. Based in Leça do Balio, (conselho of Matosinhos in northern Portugal) craftsman use centuries old techniques and attention to detail, to transform new millennium concepts into pieces that stand the test of time.
