You don’t have to be in Munich to enjoy one of Autumn’s most festive celebrations. The Vila Vita Biergarten, a traditional German restaurant in Porches, is once again celebrating the season with an Oktoberfest in the Algarve from 24 September to 5 October. (Please note specific dates below.)
The Biergarten is a little piece of Deutschland in the western Algarve. This Bavarian-style beer garden has spacious seating inside and out, with beer maids wearing dirndls, colorful murals depicting Bavarian life and even a maypole.
Authentic Oktoberfest Music
An authentic “oom-pah” band, Münchner Gaudiblosn, flown in from Bavaria for the festival, plays nightly. The program also includes performances by the Al-Fanfare Balkan Brass Band and Next Combo Brass Band, guaranteeing a diverse entertainment throughout the event.
Bavarian Food…and BEER!
Plenty of Erdinger beer, from one of Germany’s favorite breweries, is on tap, as well as locally-brewed artisan beer Porches Pilsner.
And bring an appetite! Sure, Oktoberfest is full of sausages and pretzels….but plan to make a dinner of it. The Biergarten is famous for its wienerschnitzel, pork knuckle, and meat and cheese platter. Find out more about the Biergarten here.
Families are welcome. There’s a children’s play area in the gardens.

On Mondays, group dinners with advance reservations take on a special treat:
