There are many beautiful wineries in the Alentejo that produce lovely wines. And many of those have very good restaurants. But with its restaurant and its impressive collection of contemporary art, Quinta do Quetzal is in a category of one.
The centerpiece is the Quetzal Art Center, a 450-square-meter exhibition space. The couple’s daughter, Aveline de Bruin, serves as the curator and director. She has assembled a collection of works by established and emerging international artists. It would be impressive anywhere, but it’s even more so in the wilds of the rural Alentejo.
The restaurant, with stunning views over the vineyard, specializes in locally-sourced traditional Aletejano cuisine.
