One of the most popular attractions in Lisbon, the Time Out Market is a food lovers’ food hall. The editors of Time Out Lisbon choose the chefs who get to set up counters here, and they add up to 26 restaurants, 8 bars, a dozen shops, and a music venue.
The current lineup includes stars such as Alexandre Silva (one Michelin star at LOCO), João Rodrigues (one star at Feitoria), and Henrique Sá Pessoa (two stars at Alma). You can also find the magazine’s “best burger,” “best pizza,” and “best sushi” in Lisbon.
This being pandemic time, it’s a less boisterous affair than it used to be. This is a good thing! Now you can hear your dining companions and spread out in a large food hall that has fewer tables and Plexiglas dividers between them, along with thorough sanitizing stations at the entrances.
Along with the food hall, the market, in Mercado da Ribeira in Cais do Sodre, includes an excellent fruit and vegetable market, fish purveyors, and flower shops.
