Best Beach Clubs and Pool Lounges around Lisbon 2026

Lisbon is not Saint-Tropez, Mykonos, or Ibiza. The fully public beaches will always be popular, but sometimes we want a little more comfort—nice lounge chairs in the sun, food and drink service, a good restaurant, DJs, and sunset vibes. From a fully urban pool club to decidedly boho-chic beach clubs down south in Caparica and Comporta, the Lisbon region has no shortage of places to enjoy the sun in style. SUD Pool Lounge, Lisbon

Lisbon Pool Lounges

Vibe: Affluent, international crowd that skews 40+, with occasional celebrity sightings

The owners of SUD Lisboa were going for an “international hot spot” vibe when they designed their rooftop pool lounge, but the views of the April 25 bridge and Cristo Rei make it impossible to forget you’re in Lisbon. On weekends, it opens for afternoon pool parties, and even during the week, it opens in time to enjoy the summer sunset from the infinity pool. In the evening, it’s more of a rooftop bar, with DJs, signature cocktails, and a luxurious menu that makes use of meats, cheeses, and other delicacies imported from Italy. (See our full story.)

Emma, Cascais

Vibe: Wholesome and cheerful, welcoming for families with children, international tourists, and sports enthusiasts.

A terrific beachfront location along Praia da Conceição, near one end of the seawall that links Cascais and Estoril, makes Emma a welcome addition to Lisbon’s beach club scene. Throughout the summer, the restaurant manages a beach concession, with umbrellas and sun loungers on the sand, and full food and drink service on the sand. The beach menu skews toward the convenient and casual, like burgers and poke bowls, while the offerings in the windowed dining room pay homage to Portuguese gastronomy, including grain-fed picanha with feijoada (bean stew) and octopus rice with peppers and chorizo. There’s also a full breakfast menu, which makes it a good choice for calm mornings. Later in the day, Emma’s Sports Center Cascais caters to lovers of water and beach sports with rentals and lessons for SUP, e-foils, kayaks, beach tennis, and more.

Vibe: Low-key sun-lovers who want a quiet place to chill out

If you’re looking for a lively dance party, intense people-watching, or destination dining, Rainha Beach Club is not your place. Rather, the laid-back, pared-down Rainha Beach Club on the small crescent of Praia da Rainha in Cascais, is a destination for immersion in nature with a soundtrack of chill-out tunes. Likewise, the short food and drinks menus keep things simple, with a small selection of toasted sandwiches, fresh salads, and pizzas, plus classic beach cocktails like mai tais, piña coladas, and pornstar martinis.

Bar do Fundo, Praia Grande

Bar do Bundo Lisbon

Vibe: Strictly for dining, but with a sun-soaked terrace and the laid-back feel of a grown-up beach club

Although it’s not a beach club—there are no lounge chairs or umbrellas to be rented—the beachside Bar do Fundo is one of the best spots to spend a sunny afternoon around Lisbon. It’s owned by Portuguese brothers who started with a surf-shack-style sandwich bar on the same beach. Now it has some of the trimmings of fine dining but they still focus on their grandmother’s recipes—classic Portuguese dishes with a bit of a twist. While the sunny terrace is a delight on summer afternoons, the light-filled dining room is also cozy in winter. (See our full story.)

Vibe: Old-school ambience that attracts a mix of local kitesurfers and curious tourists

Bar do Guincho is at its sexiest in summer, when the tables on the terrace are drenched in sun, but it’s also cozy in winter, with an indoor dining room that’s warmed by a fireplace and has views of the dramatic, windy ocean. The menu favors traditional Portuguese dishes like Bulhão Pato clams, codfish cakes, and seafood açorda (garlicky bread stew). The beach bar, which is open only in summer, has been an institution since 1987, and along with the terrace for drinks, it also offers chairs, umbrellas, and wind guards for rent. A few meters away, the Wave Center offers lessons and equipment rentals for surfing (plain, wind, or kite) and SUP.

Praia Irmão, Costa da Caparica

Beach Club lsibon

Vibe: Young and stylish, leaning heavily into yoga and ecstatic dance

Taking its name from the Portuguese word for “brother,” Praia Irmão was founded by three brothers who brought a “save the world” philosophy to their endeavor. That means sourcing local ingredients for the restaurant and especially fostering an inclusive sense of community. The place certainly looks the part, with its bohemian beach cushions. and day beds and a profusion of lanterns, pillows, and feathery plumes—and objects collected in Iran, India, Morocco, and Turkey—in the dining area. At night, the lights come on and the music gets turned up for a dance party. Clássico Beach Bar by Olivier, Costa da Caparica

Vibe: Older, sophisticated crowd that’s willing to pay a premium for the Olivier brand, as well as his claque of “Oliviette” influencers

Lisbon’s “chef-preneur” Olivier is best known for his glamorous, buzzy venues like Seen and ÀCosta. But his Caparica outpost, Clássico, is as laid-back as the other top beach hangouts lining the sandy stretch of the Costa da Caparica. The vibe is inspired by international beach clubs, particularly Brazilian ones, with lots of beige cushions, flowy fabrics, and beckoning hammocks. The menu includes nearly two dozen varieties of fresh fish and seafood—the same freshness of the sashimi at Yakuza—and classic, sharable dishes like shrimp feijoada and cuttlefish rice. Meat-eaters can chose from Olivier classics like a Wagyu burger and the KOB Steak.

The common thread is a wide-ranging menu that includes Portuguese classics like garlic-drenched clams and octopus salad, as well as more international dishes like white fish with Thai sauce and salmon chirashi.

Aura, Costa da Caparica

Vibe: Fashion-forward Instagrammers, fitness enthusiasts, and young professionals

The old Casablanca Beach Club space has been reborn as Aura, a “dynamic and immersive” hub where fashion, music, and art intersect, attracting a lifestyle-minded crowd that values aesthetics and social experiences. A renovation played up natural materials, like terra-cotta walls, sand-colored cushions and rugs, and straw lanterns as light fixtures. On weekdays, the large, wood tables host locals in coworking mode, while on weekends and evenings, there’s all sorts of programming, ranging from holistic wellness evenings with breathwork, Gyrokenesis, and sound healing, to Sunday morning Afrobeat workouts, to DJ sets that start at sunset and often go late into the night.

Coco Beach, Costa da Caparica

Vibe: A mix of local residents and international tourists enjoying a boho-chic atmosphere

On one of the best stretches of Praia do Rei, Coco Beach differentiates itself with what it calls its “bohemian organic design”—heavy on the worn-in wood and earth-toned macrame—and stunning sea views. Most of the tables are set right on the sand, beneath woven umbrellas, and there’s also bar service for the sun loungers. It’s especially popular with big groups and birthday lunches, but it’s also a good choice for a simple sunset cocktail or dinner. The menu is quite literally all over the map, ranging from sushi and sashimi, to tempura and bao, to Portuguese pica-pau (cubed steak in a special sauce) and codfish with sweet potato puree.

Kailua, Fonte de Telha

Lisbon area beach bar kailua

Vibe: Young crowd and surfers, here for the beach party

Among the many beach clubs in Caparica, Kailua has built its brand on “magic.” It’s a claim that’s hard to argue with, given how captivating the sunsets are. There’s an entire manifesto about caring for one another and the planet (noble!), but ultimately it’s interesting for its globetrotting menu. Starters include nachos, salmon ceviche (with mushrooms and zucchini), and arancini. For mains, there are healthful bowls, Thai rice, tuna poke, and various pizzas.
