Fittingly, the name Sem Porta means “without a door,” at the welcoming restaurant at Sublime Comporta. The airy, well-lit dining room was modelled on the old rice-sorting facilities of the area, and the simple, understated decor is both sophisticated and relaxed—a perfect showcase for the seasonal and regional cuisine.
The menu celebrates both traditional Alentejo gastronomy and of-the-moment inventions. It ranges from shrimp açorda, shellfish rice, and lamb with broad beans and chorizo to low-temperature cauliflower with Portuguese cheese jus and truffle to cod gazpacho with gazpacho salad and bulgur.
